SMRT Courtesy & Safety Programme

SMRT is committed to ongoing public education efforts to raise the level of safety and courtesy consciousness among commuters. The SMRT Courtesy and Safety Programme (CSP)is an annual initiative that encourages courteous and gracious acts when taking public transport. It comprises road shows, courtesy and safety games and contests, art competitions for children and youths, as well as the iconic SMRT Challenge. The latter is an islandwide race where close to 200 participants vie for vouchers and free taxi rides by engaging commuters to complete courtesy and safey-related tasks. The Challenge was aired on Mediacorp Channel 8, hosted by popular local celebrities, and enjoyed a viewership of almost one million.

Collaterals on safety and courtesy are made readily available to commuters at all SMRT stations, bus interchanges and on our website. As further incentives, we organise contests where commuters stand the chance to win attractive prizes simply by answering simple questions on courtesy and safety.

Students continue to be a key target audience. We introduced the SMRT Eduplay on Courtesy and Safey, a 25-minute play on courtesy and safety on public transport, which was launched at selected primary and secondary schools.
