SMRT Taxis-Grab integrated platform installed 100 percent fleetwide, taxi partners gain convenience and bookings

  1. All SMRT taxis are fully on board the new SMRT Taxis and Grab integrated app platform. The new integrated platform enables SMRT’s taxi partners to manage their earnings, as well as receive jobs from SMRT’s own booking system and the Grab platform.

  1. SMRT taxis’ Mobile Display Units, which relayed the company’s operational messages for taxi partners, were progressively replaced from 1 October with the new integrated driver app. The enhanced app was jointly developed by SMRT and Grab, leveraging Grab’s deep technology expertise and SMRT’s experience as one of the leading taxi operators in Singapore. Bookings are assigned to SMRT drivers intelligently using Grab’s allocation technology, which helps to improve their productivity.

  1. With the new integrated platform, SMRT taxi partners benefit from improved operations and more jobs a day.

  1. SMRT taxi partners have reported a steady stream of increased bookings via the app for the past month. With the integrated SMRT-Grab platform, they are assured of as many as 12 jobs a day when they drive a minimum of seven hours.

  1. Many other SMRT taxi partners have also reported a better driving experience since using the integrated app – they need to look at only one screen for app and call bookings, as well as to check their earnings and receive messages from SMRT.

  1. SMRT taxi partner Susan Lim started using the app from 9 November 2020 after an on-boarding session with SMRT Taxis’ operations team. She said: “The SMRT operations team patiently went through the onboarding session with me to make sure I was confident in using the platform. The integrated app is very convenient – I just have to open the app, sync with the SMRT system, and I can get bookings made by phone and app. It is also very easy to keep track of my earnings daily and weekly.”

  1. Since the implementation of the Point-to-Point (P2P) Passenger Transport regulatory framework from 30 October 2020, SMRT Taxis, which has a Street-hail Service Operator Licence (SSOL), continues to offer its partners the benefits of ride-hail bookings through its collaboration with Grab.

  1. These benefits do not come with higher rental rates. In fact, SMRT Taxis has launched a Low Rent Scheme to attract drivers seeking affordable rental. The scheme includes basic welfare benefits, such as hospitalization and compassionate leave, as well as free health screening and consultation. Taxi partners can enjoy rental from $63 daily.
