The route for SMRT Bus Service 991 will be extended to Bukit Gombak and Choa Chu Kang to better serve commuters in the area from Sunday, 30 September 2018. With this extension, SMRT Bus Service 308 in Choa Chu Kang will be incorporated into Service 991 and cease to operate. Commuters travelling to existing bus stops served by Service 308 can take alternative Services 172, 983 and 991. A short-trip service, SMRT Bus Service 983A, will also be introduced to provide connectivity to commuters returning to Choa Chu Kang Avenue 7 during the late night period.
