With a daily ridership exceeding 2 million, our foremost commitment is to provide a secure, dependable, and pleasant journey for every commuter on our rail and bus network. To achieve this, we've implemented a variety of innovative features and solutions across our public transport system that puts safety first in every commute.

In our efforts to improve commuter safety, we leveraged video analytics technology to deploy Project iSafe at our BPLRT station platforms. Launched in July 2023, the iSafe system will alert SMRT employees to take appropriate actions when commuters are detected on the tracks or stand too close to the platform edge.

We welcome schools, community groups, and social service agencies to explore our MRT stations and bus interchanges to gain insights into our public transport operations and foster safe and gracious commuting practices.

Through partnerships with Special Education (SPED) Schools like MINDS, Rainbow Centre, and APSN, we empower children with special needs to navigate the public transport network independently and confidently. During Learning Journey tours at stations, bus interchanges, and depots, students familiarise themselves with SMRT services.

To promote commuter safety, we conduct regular roadshows at MRT stations, educating and encouraging commuters on safe practices. Our refurbished escalators feature warning stickers and safety announcements in various languages, emphasising safety at every step.

Additionally, we prioritise commuter safety with reminders on platforms and in-train screens, promoting safe boarding and alighting practices and encouraging passengers to hold onto grab poles or overhead hand straps while standing on trains.

To promote safe commuting, we conduct frequent roadshows at MRT stations to share the importance of safety by educating and encouraging commuters to follow safe commuting practices.

Our Buses team also conducts regular Safety Roadshows to engage commuters on safe commuting tips. These topics include properly securing strollers and wheelchairs, and holding on to grab poles while onboard buses, as well as maintaining 3-point contact while taking the stairs and standing behind the yellow line while waiting to board the bus.
