Corporate Social Responsibility at SMRT

SMRT’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy aims to strengthen bonds with our stakeholders and make a positive impact on our communities. We're committed to supporting sustainable development within SMRT while giving back to society and fostering an inclusive community.

Our CSR initiatives, which centre around philanthropy, volunteerism, and advocacy, address three pillars:

  • Enabling mobility
  • Empowering through arts and education
  • Encouraging environmental sustainability

Through these pillars, we regularly contribute over S$1 million in cash and in-kind sponsorships to support Social Service Agencies (SSAs) and improve the lives of their beneficiaries.

Tap For Hope, a cherished annual drive since 2021, is SMRT's signature CSR event, as part of our commitment to the annual President’s Challenge.

Through commuter contributions, we empower those in need and foster unity and empathy in our community, reflecting our core values and those of the President's Challenge.

Now in its 4th edition, the campaign kicked off with Ms Sun Xueling, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Social and Family Development, making the first donation at HarbourFront MRT station. Running from 5 July to 30 September 2024, Tap For Hope 2024 will feature donation stands at eight MRT stations and two bus interchanges, accepting contributions via EZ-Link cards, major e-wallets, and PayNow. Proceeds will benefit 65 social service agencies under the President's Challenge.

United in purpose, we invite you to join in making a positive impact, one tap at a time at the following locations:

  1. Bugis MRT Station (East-West Line, towards Exit A)
  2. Esplanade MRT Station (Circle Line, B1 Concourse)

This partnership transforms public transport spaces into vibrant learning hubs, aligning with SMRT's commitment to community well-being.

The SMRT Green Learning Trail is a transformative eco-experience developed in collaboration with Green Nudge. Supported by the SG Eco Fund, this 1 hour 45-minute guided walking trail explores sustainable public transportation evolution and community-driven green initiatives in Woodlands.

Led by passionate Green Nudge guides, this trail takes participants on a journey through the eco-features embedded within the Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub (WITH) before exploring community initiatives in the vicinity. The programme aims to nurture eco-awareness, highlighting the pivotal role of our multi-modal transport system in combating climate change and steering us towards a car-lite future.
