SMRT Buses launch NaviLens Go to enhance wayfinding for all at its bus interchanges

Singapore, 26 Aug 2023 – Aligned to our belief of Do Right, Do Good, Do Well and commuter-centric focus, we seek to continually enhance wayfinding for commuters. SMRT Buses has launched NaviLens Go, an application to enable members of the public to navigate its three bus interchanges – Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, and Woodlands – in a faster and more effective way.

To use the app, which is free to download, users can use their mobile devices to scan coloured marker tags called ddtags installed at the three bus interchanges to access information such as general direction and current location for better wayfinding. Users will be guided visually, with intuitive arrows, on the app to point them in the right direction.

The new app complements NaviLens, a similar app launched in May 2022 as part of SMRT Buses’ inclusive efforts to help visually impaired members of the public navigate its bus interchanges. Users do not need to install additional ddtags to use NaviLens Go as it uses the same ddtags.

The launch of NaviLens Go was announced today (26 Aug) as part of the SMRT Green Learning Trail walk at Woodlands Integrated Transport Hub, where participants from the Woodgrove grassroots community learnt more about green public transport options and community ground-up initiatives in Woodlands.

Together with the NaviLens app which was launched last year to make it easier for the visually impaired to navigate our bus interchanges, NaviLens Go is part of our continued efforts to better serve commuters. SMRT Buses will also implement this new commuter-centric app at our Jurong West bus interchanges when we begin operations there. We constantly strive to create seamless and hassle-free experiences for commuters and residents.”

NaviLens Go and the SMRT Green Learning Trail walk are part of SMRT’s efforts to better serve commuters and the wider community, including those served by the bus interchanges.

The SMRT Green Learning Trail was established as part of its ongoing community engagement effort to provide a behind-the-scenes peek at how greener transport options and ground-up community initiatives in Woodlands will bring Singapore closer to achieving its Green Plan 2030 goals.

Supported by the SG Eco Fund, the programme was jointly developed by SMRT Trains, SMRT Buses and Green Nudge, a sustainability social enterprise, for participants to learn more about how Singapore’s public transport has evolved to become more sustainable and discover community green initiatives in Woodlands.
