Supplementary Service 979X will be introduced from 24 March 2025, to provide residents of Choa Chu Kang North 7 and Choa Chu Kang Crescent with a faster and more direct connection to Bukit Panjang MRT Station and Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange.

Service 979X will supplement Service 979 and serve selected bus stops along its route. It will operate on weekdays (excluding Public Holidays) during the morning and evening peak periods.
